Introduction
The department of Anesthesia is the back bone of any hospital anywhere and so is ours. It is staffed by well qualified and adequately experienced anesthesiologists. The department is responsible for providing services that include administering anesthesia for surgical procedures, caring for critically ill patients, providing labour analgesia and leading the MET call team.
Anesthesia services are available to all inpatients and outpatients on an emergent, urgent and elective basis.
Overview
The department is manned by a consultant anesthesiologist and 2 specialist anesthesiologists. In addition to clinical work, our anesthesiologists are constantly striving for the upgradation of knowledge and imparting the same to para-medical personnel, like teaching them BLS, ACLS, Airway management to name a few. Our department again takes the pride of delivering lectures to students of different undergraduate courses at GMU.
Services
- The hospital has two operating theatres which are used for an extensive range of surgeries.
- The department provides 24-hour anesthesia facilities for different surgical procedures across specialties like General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Gynecology, and Obstetrics.
- Anesthesiologists are actively involved in the care of critically ill patients in the ICU.
- The department runs an epidural pain relief service for childbirth.
- The MET call team is led by an anesthesiologist.
