Thumbay Hospitals and Clinics Observe ‘Earth Hour’ in Solidarity with Global Efforts to Highlight Climate Change

Thumbay Hospitals, the largest network of private academic hospitals in the Middle East region owned by Thumbay Group, as well as the Thumbay Clinic and Thumbay Hospital Day Care networks observed the ‘Earth Hour’ on 24th March 2018 by symbolically dimming their non-essential lightings for one hour from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

Located at Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain in the UAE and Hyderabad-India, all the hospitals and clinics under Thumbay Group’s healthcare division participated in the initiative which was held as part of the Group’s CSR drive. Doctors, staffs, patients and visitors at the hospitals and clinics participated in the event.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Akbar Moideen Thumbay, Vice President of the Healthcare Division of Thumbay Group said, “Climate change is a global phenomenon which threatens to endanger our planet. By going dark for an hour, we have expressed our support for this annual global event to emphasize the importance of climate action.”

Earth Hour is a worldwide movement organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The event is held annually encouraging individuals, communities, households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour, on the last Saturday of March, as a symbol for their commitment to the planet.
